THIS IS TO CERTIFY THAT THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL HAS BEEN AWARDED TO CORPORAL JAKE BENTLEY, UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS
For meritorious service in a combat zone while serving as a Counterintelligence Specialist from 1 May 2025 to 1 September 2025 in Kunar Province, Afghanistan.
Corporal Bentley identified and briefed over one hundred high-value Taliban and ISIS individuals, providing critical targeting intelligence that directly enabled disruptive operations throughout the area of responsibility. Hand-selected for the ADVON element, he provided essential planning and area reconnaissance that shaped initial force employment.
While under direct and indirect enemy fire, he instructed a newly assigned Marine in mission preparation, managed a sniper overwatch position delivering effective fires, and coordinated aerial resupply and close air support from over eight hundred meters using long-range radio assets.
Corporal Bentley led patrols, supported counter-sniper and guardian-angel missions, coordinated multiple extractions under hostile conditions, and rendered life-saving medical aid on several occasions while exposed to enemy fire, saving the lives of fellow Marines. He continued to perform above his grade despite sustaining multiple injuries during the deployment.
His unwavering devotion to duty, professionalism, and leadership significantly enhanced unit effectiveness and force protection. By his courageous and meritorious service, Corporal Bentley reflects great credit upon himself and upholds the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

Their courageous actions and expert execution were instrumental in disrupting enemy networks, gathering critical intelligence, and supporting the overall success of Special Operations Task Force MISFIT operations. The unwavering commitment and superior performance of 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion reflect great credit upon its Marines and are in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Marine Corps and the Department of the Navy.
